CMEI Dialogue

April 13, 2017

Connecting youth from different backgrounds appears increasingly valuable in the contemporary climate. But what might be limitations or unintended consequences of programs that promote cross-cultural digital exchange? What are some of the promises, challenges and potential dangers of “global citizenship” education? What can get lost or overlooked with programs that fall under this banner? How would we assess their long-term impact?  This CMEI Dialogue was intended to provoke a lively and timely discussion about our priorities and responsibilities as educators in the current political landscape, the potential role of social media in promoting social good, and the promises and pitfalls of education programs that purport to promote “global citizenship” or “cross-cultural understanding."
